Loft Love: 5 Cozy-Up Tricks for a Brick-Walled Bedroom

How I Made This Loft Bedroom Feel Warm & Cozy (Step-by-Step!)

Loft bedrooms are known for their open feel, high ceilings, and often—beautiful brick walls. But while brick brings character, it can sometimes make a room feel a little cold or industrial. In this project, I wanted to keep the charm of the exposed brick but soften the space to feel inviting, calm, and cozy. Here's exactly what I did:

Step 1: Embrace the Brick, but Soften the Palette

The brick wall was a standout feature I didn’t want to hide—but I knew I had to balance it. I started by choosing green and terracotta accents—warm, earthy colors that naturally play well with the rich tones of brick. These colors immediately brought grounded, soothing energy.

Step 2: Add Lots of Greenery

To breathe life into the space, I brought in plants of all shapes and sizes. Greenery softens hard textures and adds a touch of nature that makes any space feel more alive and cozy. Think potted plants by the window, hanging vines, and even a small tree in a corner!

Step 3: Layer on the Textiles

You can’t have a cozy bedroom without pillows and throws! I added layers of textiles in soft, neutral tones with pops of terracotta and sage. Mixing textures—linen, velvet, and chunky knits—brought warmth and comfort to the space.

Step 4: Add Statement Art

To add personality, I hung an oversized black and white art piece above the bed. The monochrome palette gives contrast against the brick while still feeling calm and sophisticated. It became a perfect focal point.

Step 5: Warm Lighting Finishes It Off

Cozy isn’t just about how a room looks—it’s how it feels. I made sure to include warm-toned lighting through bedside lamps and a soft overhead fixture. No harsh light here—just a gentle glow that invites you to relax.
